Dr. Russell N. Osnes is the founding doctor at Yankee Eye Clinic, which he opened in 1984. He is the Vision Source co-administrator for the state of Minnesota. Throughout his career, Dr. Osnes has been active in the Minnesota Optometric Association.
Dr. Osnes graduated Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1983 where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees. He earned his undergraduate degree at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Before choosing a career in optometry, Dr. Osnes taught High School Science for three years.
Dr. Osnes has volunteered his time in the Nevis Vision Project going on 9 trips to Nevis, in the West Indies, doing eye exams as part of that program. He has also participated in other volunteer trips, most notably to Lima, Peru as part of a multi-disciplinary medical care team.
Locally, Dr. Osnes has been on stage in five Eagan Summer Theater productions at Eagan High School. He is very involved at church where he sings regularly on the worship team, is a member of the missions committee and has been a small group leader on several occasions. He also coached EAA baseball and basketball.
Dr. Osnes is married to Carol. They enjoy traveling, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and biking on the Twin Cities’ many beautiful bike trails. They have four children, Jason, Laura, Nick and Chris.
